David Mar­ro­quín (Mexi­co)
bass

Born in Mon­ter­rey, Mexi­co in 1979, David Mar­ro­quin stu­di­ed upright bass in ESMD in his nati­ve city, par­ti­ci­pa­ting in the Child­ren and Youth Orche­s­tras of the con­ser­va­to­ry. At the same time stu­dy­ing jazz, he also stu­dies electric bass. He for­med part of dif­fe­rent musi­cal pro­jects and per­for­man­ces, the most reco­gni­zed, “Wings of the Eagle” and the musi­cal “the show of the ten pia­nos”, rea­li­zing tours in USA, Mexi­co, Cen­tral and South Ame­ri­ca. In his nati­ve city he also par­ti­ci­pa­ted in various record­ing sessions.

In 2006 he moved to Bar­ce­lo­na to con­ti­nue his stu­dies in „Aula de Músi­ca Moder­na y Jazz del Con­ser­va­to­rio del Liceu“. This same year he wins a part-scho­l­ar­s­hip from Ber­klee World Scho­l­ar­s­hip Tour. David was also gran­ted a scho­l­ar­s­hip of three years by the IEA and rea­li­zed mas­ter clas­ses with Gary Willis.

He par­ti­ci­pa­ted in several pro­jects with Bar­ce­lo­na Gos­pel Mes­sen­gers, Kena Tole­do, Jor­di Bonell, Muri­el Gross­mann, Baiao Bra­zil, per­forming in fes­ti­vals of Jazz and World Music, the most important, Jazz Fes­ti­val Vic, Bar­ce­lo­na, Ibi­za, Nis­vil­le Jazz fes­ti­val, Fes­ti­val Vijazz and Gira Diver­sons of the Foun­da­ti­on of Caixa.

He cur­r­ent­ly lives and works in Bar­ce­lo­na and is part of dif­fe­rent pro­jects as upright and electric bass player.
